TN has second highest utilization under Ayushman Bharat PM-JAY

National Health Authority (NHA) Chief Executive Officer Dr R S Sharma today said Tamilnadu stands as an example in implementing the health schemes.

He praised the State for the successful implementation of CM health card. He was addressing the media on the sidelines of 'Ayushman Sangam'. Dr Sharma said the main discussion held on the meeting was to create empowerment of the beneficiaries.

He said Ayushman card will be given to all the members of the beneficiary family so that they will have a sense of empowerment while visiting the hospital. Apart from that two new schemes ICD and ICHI have started.

NHA is organising ‘Ayushman Sangam’ which is a two-day Southern Region Review meeting at Mahabalipuram, Tamil Nadu on 7 and 8 April 2022. 

This is the third edition of the Regional Review meeting covering the Southern States/ UTs viz. Andaman and Nicobar Islands, Andhra Pradesh, Karnataka, Kerala, Lakshadweep, Puducherry, Tamil Nadu and Telangana. Previously NHA had organised similar Regional Review meeting covering the States and UTs of the North and East zones.

National Health Authority (NHA) is implementing body for two flagship Central schemes- Ayushman Bharat Pradhan Mantri Jan Arogya Yojana (AB PM-JAY) and Ayushman Bharat Digital Mission (ABDM).

NHA organises the Regional Review meetings to bring together various key stakeholders to deliberate on the aspects related to the implementation of both AB PM-JAY and ABDM schemes. Discussions are held on best practices, past learnings and new initiatives being launched under the schemes.

 

The event was chaired by Dr R S Sharma, CEO, NHA. Presentation on the progress of implementation of ABDM and AB PM-JAY were made by Dr Praveen Gedam, Addl CEO, NHA and Dr. Vipul Aggarwal, Dy CEO, NHA respectively followed by presentations by senior officials of various southern States and UTs.

Ayushman Bharat Pradhan Mantri Jan Arogya Yojana (AB PM-JAY), Central Government’s flagship health insurance scheme, was launched by Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi on September 23, 2018 with an aim to make quality healthcare services more accessible to the end user, throughout the country.

As on date 07 April 2022, more than 17.94 Crore individuals have been verified under the scheme and are provided with Ayushman cards. More than 3.3 Crore hospital admissions worth approximately Rs. 38,000 Crores have been facilitated through a pan-India network of 25,800 hospitals

Tamil Nadu has the second highest utilisation under Ayushman Bharat PM-JAY and has the most effective utilisation of claims reimbursed under AB PM – JAY to the public hospitals. The State has further fostered an innovative PPP model whereby a dedicated agency has been onboarded to operate and maintain the medical infrastructure at public hospitals.

Ayushman Bharat Digital Mission (ABDM) is an ambitious project of the Government of India that aims to bridge the existing gap amongst different stakeholders of the healthcare ecosystem through digital highways. The National Health Authority (NHA) is the apex body of leading the implementation ABDM in coordination with different ministries/ departments of the Government of India, State Governments, and private sector/ civil society organisations.

ABDM will create a seamless online platform through the provision of a wide-range of data, information and infrastructure services, duly leveraging open, interoperable, standards-based digital systems while ensuring the security, confidentiality and privacy of health-related personal information
