13th Tribal Youth Exchange Programme: Tribal Youth visit Raj Bhavan, interact with Governor of Maharashtra


Governor Bhagat Singh Khoshiyari asks Tribal Youth to Dream Big, Keep in Touch with Friends

Mumbai, 25th March 2022


As part of the 13th Tribal Youth Exchange Programme, around 200 tribal youth from Bihar and Telangana got an opportunity to visit and interact with the Governor of Maharashtra, Bhagat Singh Khoshiyari, at the Governor’s House in Mumbai, today 25th March 2022.

“Call each other, message your friends and those who don’t have a mobile, write to your friends in Bihar and Telangana whom you have met here at the Tribal Youth Exchange Programme. Stay in touch with each other,” Governor Bhagat Singh Khoshiyari told the youth during the interaction. “If you have anything to ask me, write to me,” he said.

The Governor also encouraged them to dream big. He shared his life experiences and the struggles during his childhood. “How many of you think you can become a Governor one day?” he asked the youth. “Every one of you who dreams big will achieve big,” he motivated them.

Union Minister of State for Ministry of Home Affairs and Youth Affairs and Sports, Shri Nisith Pramanik also spoke to the youth and asked about their experience about the Exchange Programme. “Prime Minister’s aim is to make the new India as a Yuva India and to achieve this the Ministry of Youth Affairs and Sports has been conducting such programmes across the country since 2014,” he informed.

The Minister also mentioned that the Ministry has conducted around 88,000 such programmes so far in which more than 21,000 tribal youth had actively participated.
 

The Minister also said that the tribal youth have come from places that are affected by Left Wing Extremism and the exchange programme will give them insights about India’s vast and varied culture and its history. “This opportunity to meet with the Head of the State can become a great milestone in their life. I believe when they leave Mumbai, they will have a whole lot of good memories to cherish,” he added.


MoS, Sports Ministry also spoke about tribal youth’s contribution in Sports. He cited examples of sports icon Mary Kom, Olympic medalists Lovlina Borgohain and Saikhom Mirabai Chanu who have brought laurels to the country. “They all come from tribal regions and tribal communities,” he said, expressing hope in the abilities of the tribal youth of the country.

218 Tribal Youth from Jamui, Lakhiserai and Gaya districts of Bihar and Bhadradri Kothagudem of Telangana are in Mumbai as part of the Exchange Programme.

Tribal Youth from Gadchiroli district of Maharashtra have been sent to Kerala and Tamil Nadu.

Sunil Dev Tudu from Gaya, Bihar expressed his gratitude to the Government of India and Nehru Yuva Kendra for providing such opportunities to the youth. “We got to speak to new people from other states and also got an opportunity to know them. By knowing each other, we can sure celebrate National Integration,” he said.

The Governor and the Minister also clicked pictures with the youth and interacted with them personally.

Nehru Yuva Kendra Sangathan (NYKS), Maharashtra & Goa, in coordination with Central Reserve Police Force, Western Sector, Mumbai is organizing the week-long Tribal Youth Exchange Programme from 22 to 28 March 2022. The objectives of the programme are to provide an opportunity to the tribal youth of selected states and districts to visit different places of the country to understand the cultural ethos, language and lifestyles of the people, depicting unity in diversity of our national life. The programme is also to expose tribal youth to the technological and industrial developments which have taken place in different states of the country, with focus on various development activities, and educational, skill development and employment opportunities available there.
