The officials of North East Cane and Bamboo Development Council (NECBDC), Burnihat, Guwahati, Assam welcomed a group of forty Village Community Facilitators (VCFs) and Lead Farmers of West Jaintia Hills District, Meghalaya who had come to NECBDC on an “Exposure visit cum Interaction Programme on Bamboo and its Application” organised by the District Project Management Unit (DPMU), of MeghalayaCommunity Led Landscape Management Project (M-CLLMP).

NECBDC officials Dr. TC Bhuyan, Consultant and In- House Scientist, Shri Anjal Goswami, Manager, (Bamboo Housing & Construction) and Shri Priyokumar Singh, Manager, (Training) addressed the group and had them visit the NECBDC facilities to see varied cane and bamboo products and the artisans at work.

The purpose of the visit was to have the Village Community Facilitators (VCFs) and Lead Farmers observe the various ways in which cane and bamboo can be put to use and the possibilities of livelihood creation for the rural communities.
