Republic Day Celebration at the office of the Commissioner of GST and Central Excise

Marking the 73rd Republic Day on 26.01.2022, Smt. Sudha Koka, IRS, the Commissioner of Central GST South and GST Audit-II Commissionerates hoisted the National Flag at GST Nilayam in MHU Complex, Nandanam, Chennai.
In her Republic Day message, she estolled the efforts of GST officers in nation building and urged them to strife for higher performance in GST Revenue collection. She also stated that GST collections upto December 2021 in the financial year 2021-2022 is Rs. 10,73,797 crores which is a record GST collection. GST South Commissionerate Chennai had collected Rs. 4,300 crores upto December, 2021 marking a growth of 22% of GST revenue compared to the previous year.
She also stated that GST Department is at forefront of Azadi ka Amrut Mahotsav (AKAM) Celebrations to mark the 75 years of India’s Independence. She further stated that Chennai South GST has implemented many programmes such as commissioning of state of the art Taxpayer Facilitation Centre and reaching out to all taxpayers continuously in facilitating them to pay the taxes in time. The Republic Day Celebration also consisted of cultural programmes, according to the press release issued by Mallipudi Udaya Sri Rama Vinay, Deputy Commissioner of GST & C.EX, Chennai South Commissionerate.
