In tune with the Government of India's Mission Programme on Skilled India, the Council of Scientific & Industrial Research (CSIR) under the Department of Scientific & Industrial Research has been implementing a programme 'CSIR Integrated Skill Initiative'. In order to complement these efforts, CSIR-NIO has set-up Tech-Demo of Green Mussel culture on a floating raft at Verem, within the village limits of Reis-Magos Panchayat. The overall objective of this skill training programme is to enhance the employment avenues for coastal rural stakeholders, more specifically for the population in the jurisdiction of the Village Panchayat, Reis-Magos. The floating raft was successfully deployed on 5th January, 2022. This is one of the unique programmes undertaken by CSIR-NIO which is the synergy of two flagship programmes, Aatmanirbhar Bharat and Swayampurna Goa.

 
The Tech-Demo of Green Mussel Culture will be officially inaugurated by  Shri. Parimal Rai, IAS, Chief Secretary,. Govt. of Goa in the august presence of Prof. Sunil Kumar Singh, Director, CSIR-NIO and other officials of CSIR-NIO and Govt. of Goa on 26th January, 2022 at 1100 hrs at Verem, Village Panchayat, Reis-Magos.  An interactive session with the stakeholders has also been organized to appraise the various skill training programmes being undertaken by CSIR-NIO, Goa.
