Figure-1:Monthly Crude Oil Production

Unit-wise production details with reasons for shortfall are as under:

    1. Crude oil production by ONGC (Oil and Natural Gas Corporation) in nomination block during November 2021 was 1598.22 TMT, which is 5.11% lower than target of the month and 3.0% lower when compared with production of November 2020. Cumulative crude oil production by ONGC during April-November, 2021 was 12943.41 TMT, which is 4.32% and 4.18% lower than target for the period and production during corresponding period of last year respectively. Reasons for shortfall in production are as under:
  • Less than anticipated production from WO-16 cluster due to delay in mobilization of MOPU Sagar Samrat.
  • Less than anticipated production from Cluster-8 fields due to delay in inputs as installation of wellhead platforms got delayed due to Covid impact.
  • Loss in oil production in Ratna& R-Series due to delay in H2S package at R-13A wells.
  • Increase in water cut and decline in liquid production in Gandhar field in Ankleshwar.
    1. Crude oil production by OIL (Oil India Ltd) in the nomination block during November 2021 was 241.42 TMT, which is 9.5% lower than target of the month and 0.73% lower when compared with production of November 2020. Cumulative crude oil production by OIL during April-November 2021 was 1989.49 TMT, which is 0.21% higher than the production during corresponding period of last year but 4.06% lower than target for the period. Reasons for shortfall in production are as under:
  • Less than planned contribution from workover wells and drilling wells.
  •  Less than planned due to local disturbance & miscreants activities in main producing area (MPA).
    1. Crude oil production by Pvt/JVs companies in the PSC/RSC regime during November 2021 was 591.80TMT, which is 10.37% lower than the target of the reporting and 0.66% lower than the month production of November 2020. Cumulative crude oil production by Pvt/JVs companies during April-November2021 was 4935.52 TMT, which is 0.04% marginally higher than the production during corresponding period of last year but 4.65% lower than target for the period. Reasons for shortfall in production are as under:
  • MB/OSDSF/B80/2016 (Hindustan Oil Exploration Company Ltd.): Delay in commencement of production.
  • RAVVA (Cairn Energy India Ltd): Production shortfall is due to less water injection in RC-4ST and RC-11z which has caused lower production from producer wells.
  • CB-OS/2 ((Cairn Energy India Ltd): Production shortfall is due to Natural decline, increase in water cut observed in aquifer supported pools and Recent sanding/loading issues in the wells.
  1. Production of Natural Gas

Natural gas production during November 2021 was 2869.47 MMSCM, which is 23.09% higher than the production of November 2020 but 12.8% lower than the monthly target. Cumulative natural gas production during April-November2021 was 22777.21 MMSCM, which is 21.78% higher than production during corresponding period of last year but 7.9% lower when compared with target for the period. Unit-wise and state-wise natural gas production is given at Annexure-II. Unit-wise natural gas production for the month of November 2021 and cumulatively for April-November 2021 vis-à-vis same period of last year has been shown in Table-2 and month-wise in Figure-2.

  • IOCL-Barauni Refinery: Monthly Crude processed lower due to AVU-1 (Atmospheric & Vacuum Unit) start-p delay due to Vaccum furnace issue.
  • IOCL-Paradip Refinery: Monthly Crude processed lower due to CCRU Continuous Catalytic Reforming Unit shutdown due to leak in hydraulic horsepower (HHP) steam line leading to lower crude processing.
  • BPCL-Kochi Refinery: Monthly Crude processed lower due to high VR stocks/ Amine foaming issues in hydrotreaters.
  • HPCL, Mumbai Refinery: Crude throughput is less due to shutdown of secondary units.
  • CPCL-Manali Refinery: Monthly Crude processed lower due to lower product upliftment mainly in Bitumen, MS & HSD.
  • NRL-Numaligarh Refinery: Monthly Crude processed lower due to lower supply of domestic crude.
