Two-day photo exhibition & awareness programme on Azadi Ka Amrit Mahotsav celebrated by Regional Outreach Bureau, Guwahati at Sualkuchi

"Remembering bravehearts of freedom movement will inspire our youth", said Satradhikar Rajib Lochan Santa

To mark 75 years of India's Independence & the contribution & sacrifices of our freedom fighters for the nation, a Photo Exhibition & Awareness programme on the theme of Azadi ka Amrit Mahotsav was organised by Regional Outreach Bureau, Guwahati under Ministry of Information and Broadcasting today at Sualkuchi.

Inaugurating the two day photo exhibition, Chief guest, Sri Rajib Lochan Santa, Satradhikar of Shri Shri Iswar Hati Satra, Sualkuchi said, "The Indian Independence movement was a historic movement which ended with the British moving away from our country. The people of our country look up to the freedom fighters with respect for their patriotism and love for their country. Today, while celebrating Azadi ka Amrit Mahotsav, we remember those bravehearts who laid their lives for the country. We should honour their sacrifices and aim to live together in harmony and peace within us."

Many dignitaries including Shri Hem Chandra Bharali, Ex-Director, Sports & Youth Welfare, Govt. of Assam, Shri Gauranga Borah, Professor, Halogaon College, Smt. Kanaklata Das, Radio Artist, Smt. Nandita Kalita, Zila Parishad Counsellor, Sualkuchi, Shri Phulen Chandra Das, Assistant Teacher, Sualkuchi Higher Secondary School and Shri Kiran Medhi, Namgharia of Shri Shri Na Bhati Satra graced the programme as guests.

Previously in the day, an Art competition among students of various schools was held in the exhibition. More than 100 students participated in the Programme.

A special theme based cultural show by Government Registered cultural troupes was also held on the occassion. Three stalls of various self-help groups & NGOs also were put up in the exhibition venue.

A dancing & singing competition on patriotic theme along with cultural performances will be held on the 2nd & concluding day of the programme.

Field Exhibition Officer Ms. Hiramani Das, Field Publicity Officer, Ms. W. Panthoibi Singha and other officials of Ministry of Information and Broadcasting, NE Zone were also present in the occassion.
