For the very first time, a 3 Day “WEAVEKNITT” Exhibition has been organized at Surat city of Gujarat by the Southern Gujarat Chamber of Commerce & Industries (SGCCI). On this occasion, Union Minister of State for Textile Smt. Darshana Jardosh, Consul General of The Republic of Indonesia Mr. Agus P. Saptono, Textile Secretary Mr. Upendra Singh, Textile Commissioner Roop Rashi were present. Besides, the President of India Bangladesh Chamber of Commerce & Industries Mr. Abdul Matlab Ahmed were present through Video Conference from Bangladesh. All the dignitaries including Darshanaben Jardosh visited the stalls of the First WeaveKniTT Exhibition. Thereafter they addressed the stakeholders of Textile & Weaving Industries.
Smt. Darshanaben, in her speech, stated that I am associated with the Textile Industry of Surat and solutions to the problems related to Textile shall be provided at my office. Regarding MSME and subsidy, she mentioned in her speech that she herself is positive in that regard and the doors of her office as well as that of Textile Secretary Shri. U.P. Singh shall always be open to welcome all any time. Gujarat being a large producer of cotton, has become a hub for Cotton Fabric & Cotton Yarn, but now we shall have to proceed further in the production of Man-made Fabrics & non-violent Natural Yarn. At the Exhibition, all of us have devoted most of our time to the Natural Yarn and its by-products, which is very vital. This is a non-violent yarn, the production of which does not involve any kind of violence.
Additionally, she briefed about her wish that Gujarat, and particularly, Surat must get the biggest benefit of new PLI Scheme. Along with “MAKE IN INDIA”, we shall have to develop a brand something like “MAKE IN SURAT” so that the products become renowned worldwide with the name of Surat.
Smt. Darshnaben also informed that the TUF Scheme is also being amended for the year after March, 2022. Besides, she also told that minisyry is reviewing schemes like SITP and IPDS.
Addressing the industrialists, Textile Secretary Shri. U.P. Singh, told that for Textile, Surat holds a similar holy status the way Chardham is Holy for Hindus & Mekka – Madina are holy for Muslims. Until now, the Natural Fabric was the focus, but since the declaration of the PLI Scheme, MMF (Man Made Fabric) has become the talk of the town. The production of cotton has reached 6 lac tonnes and that of Polyester Fabric has also reached 6 lac tonnes. If we need to boost the turnover of MMF from 140 Billion to 250 Billion, we shall have to focus on MMF and Technical Textile. Our Yarn Sector is strong, we need to pay attention on the processing.
Additionally, he briefed that earlier it was thought of to have the limit of 500 crores of Investment and 1000 crores of turnover. However, at the end of the discussion, scheme was declared with the cap of 100 crores and 300 crores respectively. The efforts are also underway to declare the scheme of Mega Investment Textile Park by the end of this month.
Addressing the gathering through Video conference, The President of India Bangladesh Chamber of Commerce & Industries Mr. Abdul Matlab Ahmed, told that the ties between India and Bangladesh with respect to the Textile Industry are very strong. India has got art along with the machineries. Additionally, he informed that the relationship with respect to Textile Industry between Bangladesh & Surat have became stronger in the days after the visit of Bangladesh by The Prime Minister of India Shri. Narendrabhai Modi.
