Greetings have been pouring in on Mariyappan Thangavelu for making the country proud by winning the Silver at the Men’s High Jump T63 final at Tokyo Paralympics on Tuesday. This is Mariyappan’s second medal from the Paralympic Games; in Rio 2016, he won the gold.

In a tweet, President of India Shri Ram Nath Kovind said, "Our Paralympians continue to make us proud! India is delighted by the success of Mariyappan Thangavelu and Sharad Kumar for winning silver and bronze medals respectively in men's high jump at #Paralympics. Vice President of India Shri M Venkaiah Naidu tweeted: "Heartiest congratulations to Mariyappan Thangavelu for winning a Silver Medal & Sharad Kumar for winning a Bronze Medal in Men's High Jump T63 event at Tokyo Paralympics 2020.
