Women have welcomed the PM Ujjwala scheme all over Tamil Nadu including Tiruchirapalli and Karur. In Tiruchirapalli beneficiaries urge central government to give free refills also as they have to pay a hefty sum of almost Rs 900 with nominal subsidy for refill cylinder. Smt. Sindhu from Mathur, Tiruchirapalli says that she is utilising LPG gas stove now which has made cooking less tedious. She said that PM Ujjwala scheme is a really good scheme for women and welcomed government move to give free gas connections without any hassles to eligible beneficiaries. Smt. Maha from Tiruchirapalli says that beneficiaries under the scheme are getting only six cylinders in a year and urges government to give at least one free gas cylinder per month. Last year during the pandemic , Central government had given three gas cylinder refills free of cost to 8 crore beneficiaries under PM UjjwalaYojana. Smt. Sankari from Thaneerpalli in Karur district said that PM Ujjwala scheme has made cooking easy. Earlier she had to cook using twigs and logs. This took so much time and she had to suffer from the smoke emitting from burning the logs. The cooking gas has made the process very easy and healthy. She thanked government for giving free gas connection. Smt. Kamalam from Malaappa Nagar too welcomed PM Ujjwala scheme as she got free gas connection. She said that she finishes cooking very fast now and is having spare time as a result. Earlier it was very difficult to cook with logs collected from nearby fields. Most of the time the twigs will take lot of time to catch fire and kitchen was always full of smoke leading to breathing problem. Government has made standard of living better for women over the years with targeted development schemes especially for women. LPG gas cylinders were earlier used only in urban places and villages always depended on cooking with twigs, logs, charcoal and saw dust. Kitchens were always full of smoke filled with dark coal tan and women affected with lung diseases and breathing problems. The revolutionary PM Ujjwala scheme ensures free LPG gas connections to BPL women and aims at environment friendly cooking and healthy life for women.
