EWS RESERVATION

The benefits of EWS reservation is available to those persons not covered under the existing reservation scheme for SCs/STs/OBCs in Central Government and this has no bearing on the opportunities available to the other groups.
As per available information the following States have implemented ten per cent reservation to EWS:- (1) Uttrakhand (2) Gujarat (3) Karnataka (4) Jharkhand (5) Maharashtra (6) Mizoram (7) Delhi (8) J&K (9) Goa (10)Assam (11) Andhra Pradesh and (12) Telengana.No information regarding implementation of EWS reservation in remaining States/UTs is available.
As per information sent by the Department of personnel & Training, State wise/District wise data in respect of EWS is not maintained by them.
Department of Personnel and Training (DoPT) monitors the progress in filling up of backlog vacancies reserved for SCs, STs and OBCs with ten Ministries/Departments, having more than 90% of the employees of Central Government. These Ministries/Departments collect these data from their attached /subordinate offices, Central Public Sector Undertakings, Financial Institutions, Nationalized Banks, etc and thereafter, furnish consolidated data to DoPT. Ministry/Department-wise and category wise details of backlog reserved vacancies, as on 01.01.2020 is attached at Annexure-I.
