Central Government Health Scheme (CGHS), Kolkata is celebrating golden jublee celebrations for completing 50 years of its services in Kolkata today. Inaugurating the celebration, Dr. N.C. Debbarman, Addl. Director, CGHS, Kolkata said, the scheme was introduced in Kolkata on August, 01, 1972, with three wellness centers located at Belvedere, Lake Area and Dover Lane. Over the time, it has extended its wings and now it is providing services in 21 wellness centers across West Bengal.

Dr. Debbarman added that CHGS has around 2 lakh beneficiaries including Central Government employees, pensioners and their families, ex-governors, Members of Parliament, former judges of High Court etc.

CGHS Kolkata has 19 allopathic dispensaries. Besides a polyclinic provides specialist services in Pediatrics, General Medicine, Gynecology and Obstetrics and Ophthalmelogy. There are two Homoeopathy, one Unani and one Ayurveda units under AYUSH providing respective services. Five Pathological laboratories attached to one each in four dispensaries and the polyclinic are also providing services. A Central Medical Store is alos functioning at X Esplanade East, Kolkata.
