COVID19 Mortality: Myths Vs. Facts

India follows ICMR guidelines which are based on WHO recommended ICD-10 codes for correct recording of all COVID-19 deaths

The robustness of statute based Civil Registration System (CRS) ensures institutionalized registration of births and deaths in the country

Given that the CRS has been implemented for decades in India, missing out on COVID-19 deaths unlikely

It is clarified that the Union Government has been transparent in its approach to COVID data management and a robust system of recording all COVID-19 related deaths already exists. All States and Union Territories have been entrusted with the responsibility to update the dataon a continuous basis.

COVID19 Vaccination: Myths Vs. Facts

Vaccine doses are supplied to the States/UTs as per advance allocation in various schedules throughout a month

More than 516 million doses indeed will be supplied from January 2021 to 31st July 2021

India has crossed the landmark of 440 million doses administered, the largest number achieved in the world at a brisk pace

Vaccine doses are supplied to the States/UTs as per advance allocation and advance information to them. Vaccines are supplied in various schedules throughout a month. Therefore, availability of 516 million doses till end of a particular month does not mean that every dose supplied till that month is going to be consumed/ administered. There would be supplies in pipeline, which should be available for next few days till next supplies of vaccine doses materialize in a particular State/District/Sub District to keep vaccination going on.
