Cultural programme, to commemorate Martydom of 33 Satyagrahis, held in Srirangapatna, Mysore

As part of “Azadi ka Amrit Mahotsav”,the south zone cultural center organized a programme at Srirangapatna, Mysuru district today to commemorate martyrdom of 33 satyagrahis during ‘Jhanda Satyagraha’.

The dance and drama programme was based on patriotric theme is authored by Sri K. S. Chandrashekar, “Teacher Acharya vidya kula" and directed by Smt Kripaphadke founder "Nrityagiri", Mysore.

"Vande mataram" a dance drama of unique style was a brief description of 3 dimensional opera, depecting the holy land Bharatha (India) with its cultural, agricultural glory. This was followed by the second theme showing the entry of the British rule in India and then the struggle for independence by Patriots which included small presentation on 33 persons who were martyred during ‘Jhanda Satyagraha at Mysore”, being the third theme. Further “Vande Mataram” song on Bharat Matha theme presented in the dance drama created a feel of patriotism among the audience.

Dr Bhanu Prakash Sharma presided over the function. Dr Shelva Pillai Iyengar was the speaker. Dr V Ranganath spoke on the relevance of the program. Sri Pa Ra Krishnamurty spoke about the emotional connect people have for the martyrs of freedom struggle. It was conducted with All Covid-19 related guidelines being followed during this programme.
