It is noticed that certain messages are being circulated in Social Media including WhatsApp, regarding purported issuance of Appointment letter along with the terms and conditions of employment to a person in Tamil Nadu for the post of Income Tax Officer by the Human Resource Department, Income Tax Department, Mayur Bhawan, Connaught Lane, Connaught Place, Delhi - 110001 signed by Mr. Vikas Yadav (HGO), Income Tax Department, New Delhi. 

In this regard, it is hereby clarified that the post of Income Tax Officer is filled purely on promotion and there is no direct recruitment for the said post.  Further, it is also clarified that the recruitment to the various non-gazetted posts in Income Tax Department is carried out by the Staff Selection Commission (SSC) only and in respect of gazetted posts in the Income Tax Department, the recruitment process is carried out by Union Public Service Commission (UPSC) through their respective official websites as per the prescribed procedure.  The members of Public are requested to check the official websites of SSC / UPSC, as the case may be, or contact their offices, in case of any doubt about the recruitment process.   The Public are requested not to fall prey to such spurious messages spread in social media including in WhatsApp.
