One Person arrested in GST Fake Invoice Case

In the ongoing campaign against issuing fake/ bogus GST invoices, Shri. K.M. Ravichandran, Commissioner of GST & Central Excise, Chennai South Commissionerate ordered arrest of one person engaged in buying of GST registration of fictitious concerns registered in GST by misusing KYC documents of innocent persons and selling them to persons engaged in issuing of fake invoices. So far the person arrested has bought 5 such concerns passing fake credit to the tune of 44.29 Crores. Earlier a team led by Shri. Abdul Raheem, Assistant Commissioner, Shri. Jayaprakash, Superintendent and Shri. Gnanee, Inspector were pursuing the accused from January onwards which ultimately led to this arrest. Public are also cautioned not to share their KYC credentials to unknown persons/ entities. The accused has been remanded to judicial custody. Further investigation is under progress, according to a press release issued by Smt T Nalina Sofia, Joint Commissioner, Chennai South Commissionerate.
