389 grams of gold worth Rs. 18.66 lakhs seized by Chennai Air Customs.

Based on intelligence,one Mohamed Nasif, 21, of Ramanathapuramwho arrived from Dubai by Indigo flight 6E-66 was intercepted at the exit on suspicion of carrying gold.He was carrying two carton boxes as his check in baggage. On opening both cartons,one  “Olsenmark” fan heater and one “Phyopus” facial nano steamer were found inside each and appeared to be bit  heavy. On dismantlingthem one transformerwith yellow color metal strips was   recovered from each appliance. On breaking the transformers52 gold strips, 26-E shaped  stripsweighing 297 grams and 26 rectangular strips weighing 92 grams totally  weighing 389 grams valued at Rs. 18.66 lakhs were recovered and seized under Customs Act.
