Union Culture Minister inaugurates the Exhibition of line drawings by eminent artist Rathin Mitra- ‘From Narendranath to Vivekananda: A Pilgrim’s Progress at Science City

To mark Swami Vivekananda’s 158th Birth anniversary, Union Minister of State for Culture and Tourism (I/C), Shri Prahlad Singh Patel inaugurated the Exhibition of line drawings by eminent artist Rathin Mitra- “From Narendranath to Vivekananda: A Pilgrim’s Progress”, organized jointly by Eastern Zonal Cultural Centre, Union Ministry of Culture and The Ramakrishna Mission Institute of Culture, Golpark, Kolkata here at Science City Kolkata on January, 11, 2021.

Speaking on the occasion, the Minister stressed that how relevant the great sage’s appeal to young India is still today. “I am privileged to have been born in the same soil, where visionaries like Swami Vivekananda have struggled to make it a ‘Punya-bhumi”, he mentioned and added that may his teachings continue to inspire us for years to come.

Union Culture Minister was delighted to have learned the extensive detailed drawing of Rathin Mitra and said that public release of the same would enrich young minds about the journey of Swami Vivekananda throughout India. He congratulated EZCC for organizing this exhibition with such splendour. 

Swami Gyanalokananda of Ramakrishna Mission delivered a memorial speech where he called on the same line as Swami Vivekananda and Kavi Nazrul to ‘Arise, Awake and Go forth until the goal is reached’ and ‘Chol re chol re chol.’

Shri. A.D. Chowdhury, Director General, National Council of Science Museums; Dr. Swarup Ghosh, Director, Maulana Abul Kalam Azad University of Asian Studies and Dr. Ajay Pratap Singh, Director General, Raja Rammohan Roy Library Foundation among others were also present on the occasion.
