eNAM - ONE NATION ONE MARKET FOR AGRICULTURE COMMODITIES
1.67 crore farmers registered under eNAM all over India

The role of farmers in ensuring food security of the nation especially during covid 19 pandemic times is invaluable. Union government is implementing various schemes to double the income of farmers. Union Minister Shri Prakash Javadekar had said that the objective of three new farm laws is to achieve the vision 'one nation one market'. National Agriculture Market e-NAM with the objective of integrating existing markets to one nation one market for agricultural commodities was launched by Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi on 14th April 2016. All over India there are 1.69 crore stake holders in e-NAM including 1.67 crore farmers and 1.45 lakh traders. In Tamil Nadu, 2.19 lakh stake holders register under eNAM , including 2.15 lakh farmers, 2912 traders , 98 Farmers producer organisations and 33 commission agents.
The ultimate aim of eNAM is to create unified national market for agricultural commodities with a vision to promote uniformity in agriculture marketing by streamlining of procedures across the integrated markets. Farmers or traders can register in eNAM through the portal- http://www.enam.gov.in or mobile application, through direct market Mandi Registration .
There is no fee for registration on eNAM. Mandatory details like Name, Sex, Address, date of birth, Mobile Number, Bank details should be provided. The benefits from eNAM for farmers include transparency in trade through better price, access to more markets & buyers, real time information on prices and arrival in near by markets and quick payments.
At present there are 175 commodities under eNAM trade. This include 26 food grains and cereals including basmati rice, wheat, barley, horse gram, 14 oil seeds like castor, cotton, kusum, mustard, neem, 31 fruits like guava banana jackfruit, mango, apple, grapes , 50 vegetables like tomato ,onion,, potato, gourds, pumpkin ginger and 16 spices like pepper ,cardamom, turmeric .The benefits for traders include extended reach to other markets and access to more sellers. Traders will have access to real time information on arrival, quality and price of commodities, and access to online banking and payments. Kisan Rath transport aggregator mobile app for farmers was launched in April this year to resolve the problem of transportation of agriculture products. The Kisan rath app can be downloaded in a smart phone with android from Play store or google. For registration, first it is language selection with options of Tamil, Hindi English Marathi Punjabi and other languages. Then in the next page, PM Kisan farmer beneficiaries can register and Aadhar number has to be entered. After entering mobile number, One time password can be generated through SMS and it has to be filled. Information regarding rural, urban areas , district , state, village details have to be entered then. Farmers are using modern technology to compete and get better price for agricultural commodities. Agriculture department is helping farmers with scientific advice for optimum use of water, fertilizers and good quality seeds. The nation can progress only if agriculture continues to flourish ensuring self sufficiency in food grain production.
