SER OBSERVES WORLD ENVIRONMENT DAY

             The World Environment Day was observed at South Eastern Railway (SER) Headquarters, Garden Reach today to raise awareness about environment as well as to preserve the eco-system for the benefit of the thriving of living beings.  Shri Sanjay Kumar Mohanty, General Manager, SER planted saplings as a part of observing the day at SER Headquarters Campus, while other Principal Officers took part in the programme and planted saplings for more greenery inside the Headquarters Campus and SER colonies. 

 

 

 

SER is committed to improve bio-diversity, mitigate climate change, enhance environmental care, optimise resources and energy efficiency, solid waste management & utilisation and significantly reduce plastic waste in all railway premises for improving the quality of lives. On the occasion, SER organised community awareness events regarding replacing non-recyclable plastic with environment-friendly materials. The day was also observed to promote a pollution-free and sustainable society focusing on conserving the environment and encouraging healthy environment. The day was marked by a host of other events across the SER jurisdiction in keeping with the theme “Celebrate Bio-diversity “.

 

To mark the occasion, posters and banners were displayed all around the SER headquarters and in its four Divisions viz. Kharagpur, Adra, Ranchi and Chakradharpur as well as in SER colonies.

 

The entire programme was organised by maintaining social distancing & wearing face mask and using hand sanitiser keeping in view to contain the spread of COVID-19.
