Till now more than 32 crore people including 7.47 crore farmers have benefitted from the various assistances made under components of Pradhan Mantri Garib Kalyan Yojana.

The lockdown was announced in the country from 24 March 2020 by Hon’ble Prime Minister in the wake of COVID 19 outbreak. The lockdown interrupted the economy and most importantly the farming activities in various parts of the country, specifically during the crucial time of harvesting and sowing of the crops.

In the light of this, with the objective to support and provide relief to poor, daily wagers and farmers, Pradhan Mantri Garib Kalyan Package of ₹ 1.70 lakh cr was announced by Smt. Nirmala Sitharaman, Union Minister  of Finance & Corporate Affairs on 26 March 2020.

Government has been able to transfer Rs. 14,946 crore to farmers under PM-KISAN, all under Pradhan Mantri Garib Kalyan Package (PMGKP).

Farmers have received 1st instalment worth ₹ 2000/- of PM-KISAN. The amount is of great help to them, it’s being efficiently used for harvesting, buying seeds, fertilisers and helping them in transportation of the harvested crops to the nearby areas. They appreciate the assistance by the government during the hard times.

Many beneficiaries have shared their stories through various mediums commending  the timely distribution of relief package.

Farmer beneficiaries like Sh. Kumara, Sh. Shashi, Sh.Siddegowda, Sh. Ramakrishna and Sh. Vishwanath are greatful of receiving advance under PM-KISAN which has helped them continue their farming activities. They also enumerate the activities like harvesting, buying equipments, seeds etc. that they have been able to undertake because of the advance they got under PM-KISAN component of PMGKP.

Likewise, ground reports of numerous success stories regarding implementation of PM Garib Kalyan Package have been received.
