Beneficiaries see Pradhan Mantri Garib Kalyan Package as a great support by government during the hard times of COVID 19 pandemic

 

Under the Pradhan Mantri Garib Kalyan Package 97.8 lakh free Ujjawla cylinders have already been delivered. Also 5.29 crore beneficiaries have been distributed free food grains under PM Garib Kalyan Ann Yojana.

In the wake of COVID 19 pandemic and subsequent lockdown in the country Pradhan Mantri Garib Kalyan Package of ₹ 1.70 lakh cr was announced by Smt. Nirmala Sitharaman, Union Minister  of Finance & Corporate Affairs on 26 March 2020.     The objective of the package was to provide support and relief to the poor during the hard times.

The relief package comprises of many components. Some of the biggest components that are being praised by the beneficiaries are benefits under PM KISAN Yojana, Ann Yojana and distribution of Ujjwala cylinders.

More than 32 crore poor people have received financial assistance of ₹ 29,352 crore under the PMGKP. First instalment transfer of PM-KISAN has benefitted 7.47 crore farmers. And 2.17 crore Building and Construction workers have received financial support amounting to Rs. 3071 crore.

The promised financial assistance is timely reaching the beneficiaries, which they find helpful in the lockdown period.The recipients have expressed great gratitude and contentment. Farmers have been able to harvest their crops and women beneficiaries have been able to cater to the need of their families.

Many beneficiaries have shared their stories through various mediums appreciating the timely distribution of relief package.

Sh. Kumara and Sh. Venkatesh from Mysore district expressed gratitude towards the government and Hon’ble Prime Minister for providing the timely support under PMGKP. They will be effectively utilising the ₹2000/- received under PM-KISAN component of the package for harvesting their crops,  which was otherwise hindered because of the lockdown.

Sh. Umakantha Gouda from Uttarkannada on behalf of his village thanked the government for making efforts to provide food grains for 2 months to all the families in such critical times.

Likewise, ground reports of several success stories regarding implementation of PM Garib Kalyan Package have been received.
