Railways has taken following initiatives for mechanized execution of electrification works for speedy execution in limited traffic block period. 

1. Cast in situ Designs for foundation have been developed.
2. Precast foundation design has been developed.
3. Self Propelled Multi Utility Vehicle (SPMUV) for mast erection is under procurement.
4. Self Propelled OHE Laying Train (SPOLT) for mechanized wiring is under procurement.

 

On receipt of SPOLT Railways will be able to carry out simultaneously stringing of contact and catenary wire so as to speed up the progress.

 

 This information was given by the Minister of State of Railways, Shri Rajen Gohain in a written reply to a question in Rajya Sabha today.
