Employees Provident Fund Organisation , Regional Office, Ahmedabad has initiated prompt and proactive action and brought M/s Shilp Indane Gas Agency, Ghatlodia, Ahmedabad under the purview of  the Employees’ Provident Fund and Miscellaneous Provisions Act,. 1952. The action has been initiated on the basis of News Item published in The Times of India, New Delhi on 10/07/2018 that “A Dalit man named Pravin Dahyabhai Parmar was allegedly beaten up by his employer named Shrenik Jain seeking his Employee Provident Fund (EPF) number.”

While confirming the developments, Shri Ajeet Kuamr, Regional P F Commissioner (Grade –I) informed that EPFO, Ahmedabad immediately deputed a squad of Enforcement Officers who visited the establishment and collected the various documents. On verification of various available documents, it is found that the M/s Shilp Indane Gas Agency is having employment strength exceeding 20 (Twenty). Accordingly, establishment is forcefully brought under the purview of the Employees’ Provident Fund and Miscellaneous Provisions Act, 1952 vide EPF Code No. GJ/AHD/1748834. It is also ordered for further detailed investigation for assessment of dues as well as recovery under the various provisions of the EPF and MP Act, 1952 and the schemes framed there under.

Further, it is also informed that as a result of aforesaid action, the victim Shri Pravin Dahyabhai Parmar also gets the EPF membership under the provisions as he has been found to be an employee of the establishment.
