Kolkata, March 19, 2018.

 

Chinsurah unit of the Directorate of Field Publicity, a publicity wing under the Ministry of Information & Broadcasting, Government of India on 18.03.2018 organized a public awareness campaign on Swachh Bharat and Swachh Survekshan, 2018 at Burrabazar yesterday under ward No.22 of Kolkata Municipal Corporation. The programme was organized in collaboration with the Councilor of Ward No.22 Smt. Meena Devi Purohit and the officials of Kolkata Municipal Corporation.

 

The Swachh Barat campaign started with a huge awareness rally which went around the entire ward No.22 to sensitize people on the need for cleanliness and environment friendly ambience. People from all walks of life participated in the rally. A cleanliness drive was also undertaken in this occasion.

 

Later addressing a seminar on the topic, Councilor Smt. Purohit said that it is the responsibility of the each and every Indian to keep the country clean and green. She said that it is the duty of all the stake holders to come forward to fulfill the dream of the Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi of Swachh Bharat. She said that Kolkata Corporation has initiated number of measures in respect to Sewage treatment and disposal, garbage disposal and street cleanliness and solid waste management to curb the menace of environmental degradation.
