India Reserve Battalion Scheme is already in existence since 1971.  Till date, 175 India Reserve Battalions have been sanctioned to various States/UTs.  A proposal for raising of 10 India Reserve Battalions for North Eastern States is under consideration.

This was stated by the Minister of State for Home Affairs, Shri Kiren Rijiju in written reply to a question in the Rajya Sabha today.
