Government has taken up various initiatives to promote innovation – Prakash Javdekar

Expressing Concern over India lacking in Innovation, Union Human Resource Development Minister Shri Prakash Javdekar said that creating an army of innovators is the resolve of Government and it has taken up various initiatives to promote innovation. He was speaking at the inauguration of Somaiya Vidhyavihar’s Maker Mela 2018 in Mumbai today.

The Minster said that catching young minds is utmost important as it is the young age that innovates. He further said that education is not all about writing exams but hands on experience is also important as far as innovation is concern. He said that India is a country of a young population but it can become an asset only if it is encouraged to innovate.

Shri Javdekar said that our moto is ‘Sabko Shiksha, Acchi Shiksha’. He appealed to all the organizations to join hands in promoting innovation as it will strengthen the country.

The Minister visited various stalls and interacted with star makers.

The Maker Mela is organized by Somaiya Research Innovation Incubation Design Laboratory (riidl)to provide a platform for innovators, entrepreneurs and makers to showcase their ideas, share knowledge and demonstrate their capabilities to visitors from India and abroad. This is the third year of the annual three-day event. Shri Prakash Mehta, Housing Minister, Government of Maharashtra, Shri Sameer Somaiya, President of Somaiya Vidhyavihar and other dignitaries were present on the occasion.
