Ministry of Railways extends SMS facility regarding status of delayed trains to 1373 trains including Garib Rath, Duranto, Jan Shatabdi, Suvidha, Humsafar and Superfast trains.


In initial phase of roll-out, all Rajdhani, Shatabdi, Tejas & Gatiman Trains were covered w.e.f. 03rd November, 2017

Ministry of Railways has extended its facility of information to passengers through Short Messaging Service (SMS) to 1373 trains including Garib Rath, Duranto, Jan Shatabdi, Suvidha, Superfast & Humsafar trains regarding status of trains running late by more than one hour. SMS giving status of late running is being sent to passengers who are boarding the trains at onward intermediate stations who had given their mobile numbers at the time of booking the ticket.

 

This facility was made available from 3rd Nov. 2017 initially for passengers booked on all Rajdhani, Shatabdi, Tejas and Gatimaan trains.

 The service was extended to 157 more trains to include all Garib Rath, Duronto, Jan Shatabdi and Suvidha Trains w.e.f Dec 15, 2017.

W.e.f January 3, 2018 1104 more trains are being included to cover all Superfast and Hamsafar trains with same facility to passengers.

This facility is first of its kind in the world as Indian railways are making its own efforts to provide information in “Push” mode for the benefit of passengers. Indian Railways have been receiving positive response from the passengers for providing this facility.
