  Increase in General Coaches in Trains

To facilitate the passenger of general coaches, Indian Railways have inducted 321 Deen Dayalu coaches (General Class coaches) in 53 pairs of trains in the year 2016-17 and about 76 Deen Dayalu coaches were turned out from production units in 2017-18 till date and being utilized in Indian Railways.

Further, Total 11 pairs of Antyodaya trains for un-reserved travel have been planned to run in the year 2016-17 and 2017-18, of which 4 pairs of Antyodaya Express have already been introduced till date Facilities provided in Antodaya train service and Deen Dayalu coaches are mentioned as below:-

(i) Antyodya train service: - These are long distance fully unreserved train comprising of LHB general second class coaches with vestibules. These have additional facilities like cushioned luggage racks, additional hand hold in doorway area for the comfort of standing passengers, provision of J hooks near longitudinal luggage racks for hanging carry bags, potable water through water filtration system, enhanced number of mobile charging points, Bio-toilets, Fire extinguishers with anti-theft arrangement, more pleasing colour scheme for interior and exteriors.

(ii) Deen Dayalu Coach:- General second class coaches for unreserved passengers with additional facilities like water filtration system to provide potable water, cushioned luggage racks, additional hand hold in doorway area, provision of J hooks for hanging carry bags, Bio-toilets, toilet occupation indication display board, enhanced mobile charging facility, Fire extinguishers with anti-theft arrangement, water level indicator, pleasing interiors, improved exterior colour scheme with anti-graffiti coating, polymerized floor coating in toilets.

Total 407coaches including 137 general class coaches have been utilized for augmentation of existing trains by Indian Railway during the period April 2017 to November 2017.
