More than 24 lakh  Anganwadi Workers /Helpers receiving benefit of  insurance cover

 The Govt. of India has provided insurance cover to Anganwadi Workers (AWWs) and Anganwadi Helpers (AWHs) in association with the Life Insurance Corporation of India. The AWWs and AWHs in the age group of 18-50 years are covered under Pradhan Mantri Jeevan Jyoti Bima Yojana (PMJJBY) and Rs.2 lakhs is payable on member’s death due to any reason; those in the age group of 18-70 years are covered under Pradhan Mantri Suraksha Bima Yojana (PMSBY) for which following benefits are being given: -

AWWs and AWHs in the age group of 51-59 years are covered under modified Anganwadi Karyakarti Bima Yojana (AKBY) as long as they are engaged. The Scheme provides the following compensations:

 

  1.    Natural Death – Rs. 30,000/- and

 

  1.    Accident – (a) Death/Total permanent disability – Rs.75,000/-

                                 (b) Partial Permanent disability – Rs.37,500/.
