Generation of Electricity from Municipal Solid Wastes

Minister of State (IC) for Power and New & Renewable Energy, Shri Raj Kumar Singh, in a written reply to a question in Lok Sabha today, informed that only one Waste to Energy project from South Delhi Municipal Corporation was received and approved for funding under the Swachh Bharat Mission (SBM), being implemented by the Ministry of Housing and Urban Affairs.

Shri Singh added that at present, six waste-to-energy plants using Municipal Solid Waste (MSW), with a cumulative installed capacity of 65.75 MW are in operation in the country. The State-wise details of MSW based power projects, set up as on 30.11.2017, are given below:
