Trauma Care Facility on National Highways

The Ministry of Health & Family Welfare runs a scheme under which financial assistance is provided to the state government for Trauma Care facilities in the government hospitals located on National Highways. During the 11th Five Year Plan, 116 Trauma Care Facilities were funded with 100% central funding along the Golden Quadrilateral Highways Corridor as well as the North -South and East - West Corridor. During 12th Five Year Plan, 81 hospitals have been identified on National Highways for providing the facilities of Trauma Care. 

Since April 2015, the financial assistance is shared between Central and State Government in the ratio of 60:40 onwards; the ratio of sharing for North Eastern states and hilly states of Himachal Pradesh, Uttrakhand and Jammu & Kashmir is 90:10; for UTs there is 100% central funding. 

This information was given by Minster of State for Road Transport & Highways and Shipping, Shri Pon. Radhakrishnan in a written reply to a question in the Lok Sabha today.
