“From the number of tickets sold, it is evident that a large number of visitors have been visiting the zoo. Only one enclosure (Beat No. 14) for Giraffe enclosure is lying empty.

National Zoological Park is making efforts to procure animals from other zoos of the country and other World Association of Zoos and Aquarium (WAZA) affiliated zoos. For acquisition of Ostrich, the Zoo has requested Thiruvananthapuram Zoo, Kerala and Zoo has requested WAZA member zoos of Europe for Giraffe, African Lion, Red Lechwe and Kangaroo.”
This information was given by Minister of State (Independent Charge) of Environment, Forest and Climate Change, Shri Anil Madhav Dave, in a written reply to a question in Lok Sabha today.
