Bio-Toilets In Trains and at Railway Stations

As on date, about 67,000 bio-toilets have been installed in passenger coaches and 45 bio-toilets have been set up at railway stations. Prior to the launch of first Green Corridor scheme between Rameswaram and Manamadurai in July 2016, about 43,000 bio-toilets were installed in coaches till 31.07.2016.

During 2017-18, it is targeted to install 40,000 bio-toilets in passenger carrying coaches and funds of ₹600 Crore have been allocated in Railway Budget 2017-18 for Environment Friendly Coach Toilet systems.
