Funds for Donor

The funds allocated to the Ministry of Development of North Eastern Region (DoNER) during its initial first year of creation i.e. 2004-05 and the current financial year 2016-17 are BE 2004-05- Rs. 1194.70 crore and BE 2016-17 (including allocation under Social & Infrastructure Development Fund) - Rs. 2600.01 crore. 

The Ministry’s own activities are built around key focus areas of livelihood & entrepreneurship & bridging infrastructure gaps on the basis of priority of the concerned State Governments. The key elements of strategy through its programmes and inter-ministerial co-ordination include showcasing potential of the region particularly in horticulture, handicraft and handloom, tourism and organic produce value chains. 

Through its schemes and initiatives, the Ministry has contributed in bridging critical gaps in infrastructure and connectivity mainly through roads & bridges (including ropeways), State level administrative infrastructure and power and transmission distribution network projects prioritized by State Governments. 

This was stated by the Minister of State (Independent Charge) for Development of North Eastern Region (DoNER), MoS PMO, Personnel, Public Grievances, Pensions, Atomic Energy and Space, Dr. Jitendra Singh in written reply to a question by Dr. Swami Sakshiji Maharaj in the Lok Sabha today.
