The Minister of State (I/C) for Youth Affairs and Sports Shri Vijay Goel said in the Lok Sabha today that the India will be hosting FIFA Under-17 Football World Cup 2017 in India in October this year. The Government has viewed this as an opportunity to popularize football in the country. Hence, in collaboration with FIFA, the Government has launched on 10/02/2017 an outreach program named “Mission XI Million” whereby various programmes are to be held in 30 cities in the country in the run up to FIFA Under-17 Football World Cup 2017. 

In a written reply he said the programme is aimed to associate atleast 11 million students, parents, coaches, teachers etc by way of holding workshops, seminars, contact programmes, competitions etc. During the current financial year 2016-17, the Government has allocated an amount of Rs.30 crores to effectively implement the Mission XI Million programme in the country.
