India is the largest cotton producing and second largest cotton exporting country. As per International Cotton Advisory Committee (ICAC) report for the month of March 2017, details of major cotton producing & exporting nations including India is given below.

In order to collect data for demand, supply, stocks, export & import position of cotton in the Country the Cotton Advisory Board (CAB) is constituted by Government of India. The Cotton Advisory Board has estimated the cotton export from the Country during cotton season 2016-17 at 50 lakh bales as against 69 lakh bales during the previous year.
The above information was given by the Minister of State, Textiles, Shri Ajay Tamta today, in a written reply to a Lok Sabha question.
