The import of raw material for textile production has decreased at a CAGR of 0.2% from 2013 to 2015. The item-wise and country-wise details of import of raw material of textiles are as follows:

The Government is focused on increasing production of all types of raw materials for textile sector including natural fibres, man-made fibres and yarns. Following are some of the major schemes focusing on the production of raw materials:

 

1.                     Jute Improved Cultivation and Advanced Retting Exercise (Jute-ICARE)

2.                  Incentive scheme for acquisition of Plant& machinery for Jute mills (ISAPM)

3.                  Integrated Scheme for Development of Silk Industry

4.                  Integrated Wool Improvement and Development Programme (IWIDP)

5.                  Sheep & Wool Improvement Scheme (SWIS)

6.                  Pashmina Wool Development Programme

7.                  Technology Mission on Cotton

8.                  Price Support Scheme (PSS)

9.                  Vidarbha Intensive Irrigation Development Programme (VIIDP)
