International Women’s Day Celebrated at V.O.Chidambaranar Port Trust

International Women’s Day was celebrated at V.O. Chidambaranar Port Trust on 08.03.2017 to mark the social, economic, cultural and political achievements of women.

Smt. S. Santhi, Financial Advisor and Chief Accounts Office, welcomed the gathering. The Chief Guest of the function Smt P. Sivakami, I.A.S., (Retired), Writer, Social Activist, in her Chief Guest address stressed that the Women’s cell of the Port should ensure that the forum meets periodically and emphasize the Social, political and economic empowerment of women at all opportunities presented.

The function was presided over by Shri S. Anantha Chandra Bose, Chairman, V.O.Chidambaranar Port Trust. In his presidential address, he emphasized that women’s rights should be the agenda of a society to thrive which will have a rippling effect in the development of the nation.

Smt P. Sivakami distributed the prize to the winners of the various competitions conducted among the employees of the Port. cultural programmes were also organized by women cell. The Women’s Day function concluded with vote of thanks from Smt. A. Vidya, Deputy Secretary, General Administration Department, V.O.Chidambaranar Port Trust. All the officers, employees and workers of the Port participated in the function.
