IMD conducts Training Workshop on Cyclone and Marine Weather Warning Services for users

The India Meteorological Department (IMD) conducted a training workshop on “Familiarisation of cyclone warning and marine weather services” for stakeholders, disaster managers and media representatives. The training programme received an overwhelming response. More than 650 stakeholders joined the training programme. It was streamed live and is available on YouTube (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=uoy74Mrgr80) for the general public.
In his introductory remarks, Dr. Mrutyunjay Mohapatra, the Director General of Meteorology, IMD highlighted advances in cyclone forecasting, multi-agency coordination and the crucial role of media in disseminating warnings to the last mile.
IMD experts delivered presentations on cyclone warning services and marine meteorological services, covering various forecast products and warning bulletins for coastal communities, fishermen, ports and maritime stakeholders. A key highlight was the demonstration of Cyclone & Marine Weather Services Decision Support System (DSS) for Public developed by IMD. It is an integrated platform supporting timely decision-making by the public, stakeholders and disaster managers.
