The Department of Economic Affairs (DEA), Ministry of Finance, along with its attached/subordinate offices and organisations under its administrative control, is undertaking Special Campaign 6.0 from 2nd to 31st October, 2026. The Campaign is being implemented across Government under the coordination of the Department of Administrative Reforms and Public Grievances (DARPG) with the objective of institutionalising Swachhata, reducing pendency, improving record management and enhancing the experience of citizens in Government offices.
A key focus of Special Campaign 6.0 is “Effective collection, segregation and disposal of e-waste”, building upon the emphasis on scientific management of e-waste in previous campaigns. The Campaign seeks to ensure responsible handling and disposal of e-waste in accordance with the E-Waste (Management) Rules, 2022, while also promoting cleanliness, efficient use of office space and improved workplace experience. Particular attention is being given to field and outstation offices providing public services or having direct public interface.
During the Campaign, DEA is undertaking focused action on the identification and disposal of pending references from Members of Parliament, State Governments, inter-Ministerial references, Parliamentary Assurances, PMO references, Public Grievances and grievance appeals. The Campaign also provides an opportunity to strengthen record management through review, categorisation, recording and weeding out of physical records and closure of e-files, in accordance with extant Government guidelines.
As part of the Campaign, DEA is also undertaking cleanliness drives, space management, disposal of scrap and redundant materials, and identification and implementation of process simplification measures. The Department is coordinating with its concerned offices and organisations for effective implementation and monitoring of the identified targets. The Campaign also encourages adoption and documentation of best practices, including initiatives relating to e-waste management, digitization, efficient management of space, environment-friendly practices, citizen-centric initiatives and innovative practices.
The implementation of Special Campaign 6.0 is being monitored through the SCDPM portal, with progress being reviewed on a regular basis. DEA remains committed to achieving tangible outcomes through the Campaign and to sustaining the gains achieved in Swachhata, e-waste management, pendency reduction, record management, efficient use of office space and citizen-centric service delivery.
