Kishan Reddy and Secretary, Ministry of Mines, Shri Keshav Chandra, planted saplings at the park in the presence of senior officials of the Ministry and reviewed the ongoing efforts towards its landscaping, beautification and development as a cleaner and greener public space.

The Ministry of Mines has adopted the park at GPOA-3 for planned landscaping, beautification and improvement of the surrounding area. The initiative aims to strengthen the upkeep of the public space while encouraging sustainable practices and greater ownership of shared spaces.
The Union Minister and Secretary, Ministry of Mines also inaugurated an E-Waste Collection Stall at GPOA-3, aimed at encouraging responsible collection and disposal of discarded electronic and electrical items. The initiative will create awareness about proper segregation, collection and authorised recycling of e-waste, while highlighting its potential as a source of critical minerals and other valuable materials.

The E-Waste Collection Drive will be conducted from October 2 to October 31, 2026. More than 44 office locations across the country, including over 28 locations in Maharashtra, have been identified for e-waste collection. E-waste collected through the campaign will be channelised through appropriate mechanisms for responsible recycling and resource recovery.
A key focus of the initiative is to highlight the resource value of e-waste, particularly its potential for recovery of critical minerals. Appropriate recycling and processing can help recover valuable materials, promote resource efficiency, reduce dependence on virgin resources and support the principles of a circular economy.
Under Special Campaign 6.0, identified geo heritage sites and other public spaces are also being taken up for cleanliness, upkeep and beautification. These initiatives reflect the Ministry of Mines’ focus on cleanliness, responsible resource utilisation, circular economy practices and recovery of critical minerals from secondary sources.
