"The three elements of the trinity -- telecom, compute and trust – must work hand in hand to make sure that the AI-driven economy becomes ubiquitous, not only in India, but across the world," said Shri Jyotiraditya M Scindia, Hon'ble Minister of Communications and Minister of Development of North Eastern Region, Government of India, at Global Fintech Fest (GFF) 2026, being held September 8–11 at Jio World Centre, Mumbai.

“In just 10 years, India’s broadband connectivity has grown from 6 crore to over 102 crore people, a 16-fold increase. Today, with 133 crore mobile phones, including nearly 52 crore in rural India, this is more than a telecom story. It is a story of economic mobility, powered by connectivity, and laying the foundation for the trinity. The mobile phone has become the new bank branch, the telecom networks the new financial highway, and data the fuel for the AI economy.

GFF 2026 is organised by the Payments Council of India (PCI), the National Payments Corporation of India (NPCI) and the Fintech Convergence Council (FCC).
The conference is supported by the Ministry of Electronics and Information Technology (MeitY); the Department of Financial Services, Ministry of Finance; the New, Emerging and Strategic Technology (NEST) Division, the Ministry of External Affairs; Niti Aayog; the Reserve Bank of India (RBI); the Securities and Exchange Board of India (SEBI); the International Financial Services Centres Authority (IFSCA), and the Pension Fund Regulatory and Development Authority (PFRDA).

Connectivity is transforming digital banking by reducing dependence on manual processes and bringing financial services closer to people. “Connectivity, it is not about connectivity alone... It's about connecting machines. It's about connecting intelligence. It's about connecting transactions. It's about evolving the new AI architecture for the world,” he added.
Highlighting the element of trust, Shri Jyotiraditya Scindia said: “Before AI can become autonomous, its infrastructure must be resilient. And before digital finance scales, trust must be absolute."

AI and FinTech cannot remain the privilege of corporates, of banks, of large customers. “It is imperative that this tool must be available to every single citizen across the length and breadth of our country. India is working towards building national AI capabilities, with computing power converging with telecom networks to expand inclusion,” he said.
