The Indian Institute of Management Nagpur (IIM Nagpur) is set for a major expansion with the development of a full-fledged 70-acre campus at Moshi in Pune after the Maharashtra Government allotted the land on a nominal lease of Rs 1.

Addressing a press conference here on Monday, IIM Nagpur Director Dr Bhimaraya Metri thanked Chief Minister of Maharashtra Shri.Devendra Fadnavis, Revenue Minister Shri. Chandrashekhar Bawankule and the Maharashtra Government for supporting the institute's expansion. The market value of the allotted land is estimated at over Rs 180 crore.
Calling the allotment a landmark development, Dr Metri said the new campus would help create a world-class academic ecosystem in one of India's leading industrial and educational hubs.
The proposed Pune campus will be developed as a full-fledged academic and residential campus on the lines of IIM Nagpur's main campus. It will focus on manufacturing, Industry 4.0, digital technologies, artificial intelligence and IT management, while offering programmes such as an integrated BBA-MBA course and a proposed five-year BTech-MBA programme in collaboration with leading IITs.
Dr Metri said the project would make IIM Nagpur the only IIM in the country with a second full-fledged campus of such scale.
Recently reappointed for a second five-year term, Dr Metri also unveiled IIM Nagpur's Strategic Roadmap 2026-31. The roadmap aims to place the institute among the world's top 100 business schools and Asia's top 10, strengthen executive education, expand AI-driven management education and research, deepen global collaborations, explore expansion in Goa, promote regional development in Maharashtra and Vidarbha, and advance clean energy, sustainability and the institute's Net-Zero campus ambition.
"IIM Nagpur's responsibility extends well beyond the classroom. We must contribute meaningfully to job creation, regional transformation, clean energy, public policy, entrepreneurship and India's journey towards Viksit Bharat 2047," Dr Metri said.
