Bureau of Indian Standards, Mumbai Branch Office - II in collaboration with the Safety Appliances Manufacturing Association (SAMA) hosted an industry meet at Navi Mumbai on 1st March 2025. The event was aimed at enhancing industry awareness about the Bureau of Indian Standards (BIS), its functioning and its pivotal role in ensuring quality compliance across sectors.

Scientist-C, Mumbai Branch Office – II, Shri Aman Singh led the session accompanied by the Executive Director of the SAMA Association alongside approximately 30 industry representatives. The meeting provided valuable insights into the BIS licensing process, Quality Control Orders (QCOs) and various regulatory aspects that ensure product quality and safety. A key feature of the event was a real-time demonstration of the BIS portal, which offered attendees a comprehensive overview of its functionalities. The portal demonstration included access to standards, licensing procedures, marking fees, product manuals, laboratory details, and other essential resources.

Participants appreciated the session for its clarity and depth, with many feeling more confident in navigating the BIS licensing process and ensuring compliance with national standards. This industry meet marks a significant step towards strengthening collaboration between BIS and key industry stakeholders, further promoting the adoption of quality standards across various sectors.
