NEW PRINCIPAL CHIEF OPERATIONS MANAGER, METRO RAILWAY, KOLKATA

Shri Lakheswar Saikia took over the charge of Principal Chief Operations Manager of Metro Railway, Kolkata on July 17, 2024. Shri Saikia, a 1993 batch of Indian Railways Traffic Service (IRTS) officer replaced Shri Soumitra Biswas who has been transferred to Eastern Railway.
Shri Saikia comes with a sound technical background and has expertise in different spheres of Railway working. He has put on 29 years of service in Indian Railways and worked at various levels of Zonal Railways.
Prior to taking over the charge of Metro Railway, Shri Saikia was the Chief Traffic Planning Manager (CTPM) as well as Chief Freight Transportation Manager (CFTM) of Northeast Frontier Railway (NFR). He has also worked as Chief Commercial Manager/Freight as well as Passenger Marketing in NFR and Director, Union Ministry of Women and Child Development. He has also rendered yeoman service as General Manager of Food Corporation of India, Assam Region as well as Chief Regional Manager, IRCTC Ltd. Guwahati.
New PCOM of Metro Railway has undergone training in various foreign institutions like AIT/ Bangkok, INSEAD/ Singapore and ICLIF/ Malaysia.
