Union Minister of Power and Housing and Urban Affairs Shri Manohar Lal said that the Damodar Valley Corporation (DVC) plays an important role for the energy security and economic development of the nation. Shri. Lal had a review meeting with the senior officials of the organisation at DVC Head Quarters in Kolkata today. Shri. Lal said that DVC is the first multipurpose River Valley project of Independent India, which is a matter of great pride. The Minister assured that the operational and financial issues faced by the DVC will be resolved at both department level and Government level for smooth and effective functioning of the Corporation. He stressed upon increasing the renewable energy share in DVC's total energy portfolio.The Minister also assured that both Public and Government support will be provided to DVC for it's future expansion plans and overall growth so DVC can contribute significantly to the sustainable development of the nation.For this purpose DVC should explore the Market options through Public participation in equity and also to unbundle its operation to achieve greater efficiency he added.

In the review meeting, The Minister was appraised about the present operations and future plans of the Corporation.DVC official assured the Minister the Corporation will continue to strive to achieve its goal and play an important role in meeting the energy needs of the Country.
