EASTERN RAILWAY TO RUN EMU SPECIALS FOR SHRAVANI MELA AT TARAKESWAR

The Shravani Mela at Tarakeswar is an integrated part of Bengal’s cultural and religious calendar attracting numerous devotees who come to seek the blessing of Lord Shiva and immerse themselves in the spirit of devotion and unity. The Mela takes place during the auspicious month of Shravan (July - August) for ‘Jalabhishek’ of Lord Shiva. Devotees from various parts of Bengal rush to Tarakeswar for ‘Jalabhishek’ of Lord Shiva. During the Shravani Mela, Tarakeswar and Seoraphuli station witnesses a significant influx of devotees from different corners of Bengal who come to participate in the festivities and religious rituals.

Taking into consideration, for the need of pilgrims, Eastern Railway (ER)’s Howrah Division will run additional six (6) pairs of EMU Special which will run over Howrah-Tarakeswar section on all Sundays, Mondays and other festive days during Shravani Mela at Tarakeswar.

To transport the pilgrims from Howrah to Tarakeswar facilitating Jalabhishek of Lord Shiva, EMU Special trains will leave Howrah at 04:05 am & 12:50 pm to reach Tarakeswar at 05:35 am. & 2:20 pm  respectively. Similarly, after Shiv Darshan, to bring the devotees back to Howrah, the EMU Special trains will leave Tarakeswar at 10:55 am &  9:17 pm at night to reach Howrah at 12:30 & 10:45 pm  respectively.

In addition to this, keeping in view the importance of Seoraphuli from where the water of Holy Ganges is usually taken to Tarakeswar for Jalabhishek, Eastern Railway has also arranged EMU Special trains between Seoraphuli and Tarakeswar. Sheoraphuli – Tarakeswar EMU Special will leave Seoraphuli at 06:55 am, 09:20 am, 4:20 pm and 7:40 pm to reach Tarakeswar at 07:45 am, 10:15 am, 5:10 pm and 8:30 pm at night respectively. In opposite direction, Tarakeswar – Seoraphuli EMU Special will leave Tarakeswar at 05:55 am, 08:10 am, 2:50 pm and 6:40 pm to reach Seoraphuli at 06:45 am, 09:03 am, 3:40 pm and 7:30 pm respectively.

Shri Kausik Mitra, Chief Public Relations Officer, ER informed, “Besides regular trains, these EMU Special trains will run in addition to usual services in all Sundays, Mondays and other festive days during Shravani Mela at Tarakeswar i.e. on 17.07.2024, 21.07.2024, 22.07.2024, 28.07.2024, 29.07.2024, 04.08.2024, 05.08.2024, 11.08.2024, 12.08.2024, 15.08.2024, 18.08.2024 & 19.08.2024. These Special trains will stop at all stations en route.
