Military Nursing Service celebrates their 98th Raising Day

On Sunday, the Nursing officers of the military Nursing Services of the Southern Command celebrated their 98th Raising Day commemorating their illustrious stories of courage, compassion and care.
The Military Nursing Service (MNS) was set up in India in Mar 1988 with the arrival of first batch of 10 qualified British Nurses in Bombay. On Oct 01, 1926 a permanent Nursing Services was raised as part of the Indian Army. This service was designated as the Indian Military Nursing Service (IMNS). Promulgations of Military Ordinances on September 15, 1943 permanently established the MNS as a part of the Armed Forces and today it ranks high among the Army Nursing Services of the world.
At Pune, the auspicious day was celebrated by paying homage to the brave hearts at Southern Command War Memorial by Brig Subhashini K R, Brig MNS, HQ Southern Command and senior veteran MNS Officers. Lt Gen A K Singh, AVSM, YSM, SM, VSM, GOC-in-C Southern Command congratulated the Nursing Officers for their yeomen services to the Indian Armed Forces and appreciated the dedication and compassion with which the Nursing Officers deliver high quality nursing care. Major General Medical, HQ Southern Command also complimented the nursing officers for their proficient nursing care and exhorted all to rededicate themselves to render quality nursing care with sound professionalism and compassion.
