Thyroid cancer incidence is steadily increasing worldwide, while the mortality rate has remained stable. The incidence of thyroid cancer is 5.4 per lakh pipouly in India. Thyroid cancer is divided into sub types, with papillary thyroid cancer being the most common. The clinical behavior of thyroid cancer is highly variable, from indolent, slowly progressing tumors to highly aggressive tumors with high mortality rates. A thorough understanding of the types of thyroid cancer and its management is of paramount importance in providing the appropriate treatment.

 The Department of ENT at All India Institute of Medical Sciences, Nagpur organized a Continuing medical education -CME on "Differentiated Thyroid Cancer" on 23rd July 2023 on the occasion of World Head and Neck cancer day in collaboration with Association of Otolaryngologists of India, Vidarbha chapter. It was focused at updating medical fraternity about principles in management of Differentiated Thyroid Cancer. This consisted of series of lectures by eminent faculty. The MOC for the event was Dr Disha Methwani. The welcome speech was given by Dr Vijay Bidkar, Associate professor of ENT, AIIMS Nagpur. Inaugural address was given by Chief Guest, Dr Siddharth Dubhashi, Dean (Student Welfare), Professor & Head, department of Surgery at AIIMS Nagpur.

The presentation on "Changing face of Cancer Information" was done by Dr Vijay Bidkar. Dr Madan Kapre, National President IAO-HNS and renowned Head and Neck surgeon from Nagpur gave a presentation on "NCCN guidelines for Thyroid Cancer". Dr Rasika Gadkari, Professor & Head, of Pathology at AIIMS Nagpur gave a presentation on "Thyroid Cancer: Newer perspective". Dr Siddharth Dubhashi, gave a presentation on "Prognostic Factors in Differentiated Thyroid Cancer". Dr. Shubhada Khanapure, Assistant Professor from department of Oncosurgery at AIIIMS, gave a talk on "Surgery in Differentiated Thyroid Cancer". This was followed by a talk by Dr. Kiran Kumar Prathipati, Assistant Professor, ENT department, AIIMS Nagpur, on the topic" AIIMS NAGPUR Experience and Intra-operative Nerve Monitoring". The lectures were followed by Question and Answer session. Vote of thanks was given by Dr Sandeep Dabhekar, Assistant Professor in ENT department, AIIMS Nagpur. The CME was chaired by Dr. Rajendra Deshmukh and Dr Ashish Chikhale. Dr Sandeep Dabhekar, Dr Kiran Kumar Prathipati and Dr Vijay Bidkar and Samir Choudhary, President of AOI, Vidarbha were involved in organizing the CME. The CME was awarded 2 credit points by MMC. More than 80 delegates and office bearers of AOI Vidarbha attended the CME. Relevant topics and queries of participants were discussed. The event was successfully conducted under the guidance of Executive Director, (Dr) Hanumantha Rao, Dean (Academics) Dr Mrunal Phatak and Offg. Medical Superintendent, Dr. Manish Shrigiriwar.

The undergraduate students performed a street play organized by department of ENT on the theme of Oral Head and Neck Cancer awareness in screening area of OPD building on this occasion .Professor and Head, Surgical Oncology, AIIMS, Nagpur was Chief Guest. The screening was done in front of 100 patients and relatives.
